Shamsa Sheegow

Shamsa Shegow is a Somali social worker, author, and activist dedicated to empowering communities and driving meaningful change. Residing in Sweden, Shamsa is the founder of Badbaado Deegaan (Save the Environment), a grassroots initiative focused on environmental conservation in Somalia, which has successfully planted trees and raised environmental awareness across multiple cities.
A founding member of Global Somali Diaspora, Shamsa actively works to unite Somali communities worldwide. She also created The Perspective, a digital platform that amplifies key issues affecting Somali people. As an author, her debut novel, Geeltoosiye (Eagle), explores themes of love, jealousy, and polygamous marriage, sparking critical conversations within Somali society.
Shamsa’s leadership and advocacy make her an invaluable member of Yasmin Foundation’s Board of Directors.
