Dr. Hodan Said

Dr. Hodan Isse is a Somali economist, educator, and advocate with extensive experience in academia and community development. Born in Hargeisa, Somalia, she holds a PhD in Economics from George Mason University and two master’s degrees in Economics and International Development from Ohio University. Dr. Hodan is a clinical assistant professor emeritus at the University at Buffalo School of Management.
A dedicated leader, she cofounded the Somali Mental Health Foundation and H.E.A.L., a nonprofit supporting refugee resettlement in Buffalo, New York. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Bank of Somalia and is the former First Lady of Puntland State of Somalia. Dr. Hodan’s expertise and commitment to improving Somali communities make her a vital member of Yasmin Foundation’s Board of Directors.
