n 2019, Yasmin Foundation identified a critical need for clean water in Shabeley Town, located in Warshikh, Middle Shabeelle region. The nearest water source was a well that was located far from the town, making it difficult for residents, particularly women and children, to access clean water.
To address this issue, the foundation contributed to the digging and construction of a borehole for the community. This new water source has made a significant difference, providing easy access to clean water for the people of Shabeley. On October 4, 2020, the borehole was officially inaugurated, marking a major milestone for the community and the foundation.
The construction of the borehole not only improved the residents’ access to clean water but also contributed to better health outcomes by reducing the spread of waterborne diseases. The borehole has also alleviated the daily burden on women and children, who often had to walk long distances to fetch water, allowing them more time to focus on other productive activities.
